A Crack in the Foundation

"Sooner or later you'll find out there's a hole in the wall. Sooner or later you'll find out that you'll dream to be that small." ~ Switchfoot

~ A Crack in the Foundation ~

In the past there is a suspicious space between the wall and the door.
A crack that appears to be broken, more so than it should.
Splintering and weaving, creating more lines than healing.
This space is all you had left before you hit the floor.

Under the blood shot eyes of lovers dreams.
Through the dark places of family screams.
Into the depths of friendships in toil.
There lies a hope, that could fix this scene.

Ripping and tearing and become more than what it once was.
An increase of space in between the lines.
What is more sad than a foundation beginning to die?
What is more sad than hope that feels so far away?

Together and alone.
Crowds of people yet morose.
Hands falling on hands.
And lips being used to kiss and betray.

Our lives are but one tale.
All woven and created.
A canvas being created for more than this life.
And in the cracks there is a way to repair what has been lost.

Do not overthrow your lover.
Do not seek out hate against your brother.
Do not try and one up the other.
For love is what will bind, not this scalpel coming down.

Stitch it up and forgive to get better.
Love more than self to show you can love one another.
For the bloodshot eyes need not apply.
When it comes to those who are on or have crossed your eye.

Let your present be more than that of your past.
Do not be defined by what you did but by what you do.
Hello sweet melodies of love and daring.
Goodbye to the curse that parries all of your caring.

You Have Legs...Use Them

"I Will Not Pretend That We Are All Friends, When All Of Us Know That We'Re Not. And I Am Afraid Of Pulling My Name, Away From The Places I Know I'Ve Been On This Slow Down Descent."                                                                                                                                      ~ Deas Vail

~ Have Legs ... Use Them ~

In moments like these I hope too much.
I dream up responses that let go of, instead of holding on.
The hope does not seem to be as real as it once was.
This is where my faith needs to take over and show me how to believe.

Targeting the balance of the left and the right.
Taking up arms against the heart.
And taking shots at the mind.
Duck and cover for this world is gonna blow.

It will rise up in flame.
It will enter into the line that was never supposed to be crossed.
A little further down the road.
A little to close to Hell.

In moments like these, I wish to much.
I see the stars and remember not all of them are real.
I hope, hope decides that it will manifest out of me.
Even when I need to reach deep down inside while I flee.

The shot is lined up after I moved from the right to the left.
Finger on the trigger.
The pulse is the beat.
Duck and cover for this world is gonna blow.

Enter in and enter out.
Move your butt to a better place.
Enter in enter out.
Regret does nothing but get in the way.

String along brilliant acts.
Get together and breathe in more than contrition.
Break down the fence that is holding you back.
Take the shot and bring yourself to a place of happiness.

In moments like these I am a kid that knows his place.
In moments like these this Hell transforms into something worthwhile.
While the hope secures faith.
And the faith depends on how much I wish to represent my belief.

Doubt equals a soul who chose it over believing.
Two sides of the same coin.
Both used for target practice.
Duck and cover for this world is going to blow.

Erase it and move on.
Learn and travel further.
Hope for the faith that is inside all.
For it is better to live than to stand still.
You have legs ... Use them.

Never Give Up

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Never Give Up

The world is not on your side.
It wants you to fail.
The world is against you.
It wants you to fall.

This place throws rocks at you when you try and do what you were meant to do.
You can be beaten and scarred.
The ship that never makes it to shore.
The plane the doesn't find land.

Downtrodden and beaten down.
Unable to sleep.
Unable to have a descent meal.
Broken,  hurt,  and seeing visions of wood and blood.

The next section is one of a man who is down.
A man who is trying not to give up.
One who is searching for it.
For what? For truth.

Where are you God when nothing is going right?
Where are you when the fire licks up.
When the earth splits open and swallows me.
And I fall not seeing where the bottom is.

God what happens when I point a gun at your head?
What happens when I turn it on myself?
When nothing seems to be going right,
And the world looks sweeter than you?

You tell me that you love me.
And that love is sufficient.
I wonder what would happen if I truly let you in?
If I listened and responded instead of hearing and ignoring?

I have this to tell you sir...
Never give up.
Fight for God
Fight for your right to choose love instead of hate.

The world will not win when this life ends.
Pain makes you stronger.
The hurt is used to strengthen the resolve of Love.
Suffering is what it takes to fight and to win.

Never give up on life.
Endure and create your character.
When you are at the end of your rope,
Get your eyes off of this world and put your eyes on God.

For this world is doing you no favors.
Never give up.
Hope can come from the pain.
Hope is what comes from suffering, and that pain brings love as you endure and reap what is sown.

Never give up.
Let Love win.
Never give up.
Fight for your right to never back down.

Why is Good Forgotten?

~Why is Good Forgotten?~

This journey is not for the faint of heart.
These moments take precedent over the rest.
I have been given these moments to make things better.
One step to the right as my body goes left.

I am entrusted to give back and not just take.
To go out and understand that the world does not want to accept me.
To be a servant,
And give, give, give.

Do I distrust my distrust?
Am I profound for the sake of me?
Or do I proliferate my gifts for others?
Do I go and bring change, joy, and hope for the joyless, and hopeless?

Salt that lacks taste.
Seeds that get planted next to rocks.
Houses sinking in the sand.
Failing because you do not try.

I have work to do.
I have more to do in this life.
To serve and give to the poor.
And to know I was chosen to cultivate the trees to grow fruit.

Is it easy?
Will I love myself instead of others?
Is it easy?
No, opposing forces will make you want to serve self instead of giving back.

Good is not striven for anymore.
Pleasure is the new religion.
Power, greed, sex, and money are the gods of our world.
Lovers of self, lovers of the gray.

I would rather see it black and white.
To know where you stand.
Not to muddle or blur lines.
I would rather sacrifice than let it be easy and lose my soul.

Serving is not natural.
It is a choice.
Every day going out and giving back.
Instead of praising God then spitting in people's faces.

Is this the world you wish to live in,
A place of pride;
A places of greed;
A place where being blind to the truth leads to slaughter?

This journey is not for the faint of heart.
But I would not have it any other way.
Helping those in need.
Understanding what it truly means to be alive.

Where do You Suffer?

"You're my harbor in this lonely storm."
                                             ~Jon Foreman

Where do You Suffer?

Rejoice in the suffering brought to you by those who do not understand.
Suffer and become strong.
But do not suffer by doing wrong,
Suffer in the pain of Christ.

What am I doing when I see those who are dying?
What am I doing when they are in danger?
Do I shut up in my home and never leave?
Or do I go out to where they are and show them love?

I am stubborn I am a faker.
I long for a home that I cannot see.
I am boat lost at sea.
And everyday you see right through me.

I refuse blessings when He lays them right in front of my eyes.
I end up suffering not by Him, but because of me.
The hurt builds up like a chemical reaction in a bottle.
Until it explodes and my heart is on the floor.

The time will come when this world will be reborn.
My maker will come down and all will see the truth.
Until that day I will be all I can for Him.
I will be all I can to show the world His love.

For true love can only come through God.
True love can only be embraced by understanding His suffering.
Even when I doubt, He does not abandon.
Even when I suffer by my own accord He brings me back.

When darkness is over your eyes,
And the stabs of this world pierce your skin.
When the eyes look and linger just a little too much,
And then your world falls apart.
Remember there is a hope if you just turn to the Maker of all things.

Tongue in Cheek Science

"Living is simple, it's gravity. Gravity, isn't so hard.  Living is simple, it's entropy. Entropy, falling apart. I'm falling apart again."
                                                      Switchfoot

Tongue in Cheek Science

Gravity keeps me on the ground and makes me realize I wish I could fly.
I want true joy.
I want to be free.
I want to take gravity out and fly to be whole.

I grieve for the living because people today have no hope.
I grieve for myself because I can become enamored by this life.
These laws that keep me grounded.
These laws that bind the physical to the solid.

I have a bullet and I have a gun.
I have a knife and a target.
I have an arrow with a bow.
I have a tongue and a voice.

This bullet goes through the skull.
This bullet is shot from a barrel.
What does this mean?
It means the physical needs to be bound not to gravity but to the sanctity of the living soul.

This knife cuts deep.
It burrows into the target and does the deed.
What does this mean?
It means blood is richer when it is flowing from love and hope.

This arrow pierces the heart of every man.
It connects and kills.
What does this mean?
It means that in fealty there can be strength.

This tongue is the most dangerous weapon known.
It can destroy more than a bullet, knife, or arrow.
What does this mean?
It means our greatest weapon can be used to build them up or cause them to fall.

We have killed many so far.
We have used weapons to end lives.
But what lives are we talking about?
Well, we are talking about the flesh that gravity is holding.

We are killing the very thing keeping us from hope.
The human eyes that lust after power,  greed,  and sexuality.
Cutting away depression, anxiety, and strife.
To become one with a Savior that we can look to and replace our false flesh souls.

Hope is what will get you through the day.
Hope will give you the strength to fight the in the fray.
To become like entropy and then fly away.
To break the laws of this world and turn to the world of our Father.

My Personal Psalm

EliElilama sabachthani?” that is,My GodMy Godwhy have You forsaken Me?”
                                                                     ~Matthew 26:46b

~My Personal Psalm~

What does it look like when you love and the world hates?
What does it look like when the change is a change for the suffering?
The world tears down the loving because it hates the one who shows true love.

This world is not my own.
This world is only temporary.
This world will hurt you just because we know the truth.

Not everyone will like you.
Not everyone will want to know you.
But stay strong, walk the path and love.

Those around want to avoid the truth.
They want the easy and the fast.
They want the quick fix for this world and this world alone.

This world is not my home, my home begins when I die.
My treasure is on the other side.
My treasure begins on the rocky and narrow.

I do not want a cookie cutter life.
I do not want the easy way out.
I want the love of a Savior even when I think He is gone.

God I cry out to you.
Give me life in this world where I live.
God I cry out to you.

My knees are on the ground.
My eyes are to the sky.
But my heart is cold.

God I cry out to you.
I wish I knew more.
God I cry out to you.

My head tells me you forsake me.
My ears do not hear.
God why do I feel nothing all the time?

I weep as I sit alone.
I weep as I try to serve.
I am wounded because I do not feel you.

This war is made up of many battles.
This war, thank God, is already won.
But this war takes a toll on my soul.

This world does not belong to me.
I am just living in it with others.
We do not belong here.

Break me and let me know you.
Hurt me so I understand compassion.
God please let me see you again.

This world is built on vanity.
It is built on meaningless pleasure.
This world is what my sin wants.

I give in to many times.
I give in when I know it is wrong.
I give in, God help me fix my eyes on you.

What does it look like to love what the world hates?
It hurts,
It stings,
It destroys my understandings.

What does it look like to love what the world hates?
It brings hope it.
It brings love.
It brings understanding.

What does it look like to love God?
It looks like the end of an age.
An end of humanity.
A beginning that will last forever.
An end to this world and a focus on what is to come.

This world is not my own
Even when I feel alone.
God I weep,
God I try,
God take me, let me know you are here.

This world is not my home
This world is broken.
I am broken.
I am a faith based lover
Known to my soul as a believer in more than myself.

Not everyone will like you.
Not everyone will like me.
But I will love them not matter the circumstances.
Even when my world has fallen apart.
