In Front of You?

"Everyday a choice is made. Everyday I choose my fate." ~Switchfoot

~In Front of You~

Emotions fly like the birds in the sky.
Running and jumping spreading wings and denying once or twice.
Prayers thrown up and caught not being allowed to make it to Heaven.
Emotions that fly, where faith has been replaced by human desire.

What do you do when a furnace is placed in front of you?
Will your emotions save you?
When the fire melts and burns you.

Even before you are pushed in.
The compromise will come.
The time to choose what you truly believe.

Is it the testimony of Christ?
Or will it be the compromise that took your soul by surprise.
Truth is not always popular.
It is usually in direct defiance to the norms of the world.

Truth is set before our eyes like glasses to help us see.
Truth is a fire that is more powerful than any furnace placed by men.
This furnace can be used by the maker.
It can be used to destroy the ties binding you hands.

Will I See You on the Other Side?

And a God of redemption could break our routine.
                                                             ~Switchfoot

Will I See You on the Other Side?

Two ways are laid in front of people.
One is the way of righteousness.
One is the way of wickedness.
A gray light, a gray dark does not exist.

Is it possible to be happy?
Is joy a myth?
Are blessings ever worth the fight?
Are blessings created by actions and choices?

The lasting moments of happiness begin with a choice.
A choice to dive into fire turning into water.
To leap instead of doing nothing.
Learning to wait when immediate action will cause strife.

Do we choose to sleep instead of think.
Do we include their ways into ours,
Or do we influence our ways into theirs.
An attack from the left, and the right.

Deceptive pleasure that can seep into the marrow of our bones.
Laughing at words that once disgusted the soul.
A compromise that should never be made.
We must use the fire to burn it, and the water to wash it away.

Something has been present since this world began.
It is what the law of the universe has been based on.
It is also what can save your soul.
The beginning the end, the alpha and omega.

A word that has always been there.
A choice to accept it.
A word that is both fire and water.
The word that turns seeds into trees.

When the heart is not in it.
When the mind over thinks.
That is when the seed dies.
That is when the roots refuse to grow deep.

But when it works there are defining characteristics.
Everyone knows what they are by the fruit on its branches.
The flowers that sprout.
The undying nature of worship versus pride.

There are defining choices in our world.
Do you choose a life that has an end that is not defended?
Or do you choose the life that gives us a defense?
A life built by fire and by water.

The wicked may seem like they are winning in this life.
They may seem joyous.
Do not be deceived.
For in the end the choice they have made will lead them to a place not filled with love, faith, and happiness.

This can be a sad tale.
Or it can be good.
It is well with my soul.
When I burn for Love and swim in Hope.

Go and choose.
This life or another.
Go and choose.
And I hope to see you on the other side.

Fate is a Choice

Fate is a Choice
"Every day a choice is made. Every day I choose my fate."
                                                                      ~Jon Foreman

~Fate is a Choice~

It is terrible to think that you might not be coming home.
It is a horrible thing to entertain that the road is left so cold.
I watch you walk out that door and I find that it hurts more and more.
Because I have no guarantee that you will be coming back me.

The dirt road has its toil.
The pavement can be cracked.
My heart has no choice in the matter.
Which type of ground through which you track.

Each day is a new day.
And each day is a new road.
To trust is to know that on that road it is known to go.
It is known to be the one you choose when your eyes open and you see the moon or the sun.

It is terrible to think that the love you gave me may come to nothing.
It is horrible to think that breaking up is not the last goodbye.
I watch you walk out that door and I wonder what other doors you are looking for.
Because I have a door in which you might visit no more.

Is this about a death or break up?
Is it about more than what we have heard?
Is it about the pavement of some back road?
Or is it meant for you to think that life can come even when the pain brings the rain.

These cliches are meant to inspire.
And heartache is meant to show you that the heart can be a liar.
Your head can produce no desire.
Until you look to the sky and realize that we are but a point in the existence unless we look harder.

This is being written to show that not everything has to be a failure.
Even when they walk out that door.
This is being written as a love letter.
To yourself and not to another.

A story that is unfolding right in front of your eyes.
Maybe about a girl who just stole your soul.
Maybe a death of a loved one that has sparked feelings old.
Or maybe an experience of a lifetime that has distributed joy to your soul that you thought was cold.

It is terrible to think that you are never coming back.
It is horrible to realize that feelings mean nothing.
For what counts is truth even when you feel like it is for nothing.
For what counts is a combination of events that fuel more than a fire.

Life is but a road that is chosen every day.
Fate is a choice made by the mind of the heart in each person alive.
Love is more than feelings of attraction and desire.
And the end is but the beginning to all who look for more than air in the sky.
